The Tennessee Titans would like to welcome the following players to Nashville (or wherever the Titans play. Maybe it's Memphis? IDK):
S Tony Jefferson
The Tennessee Titans' revamped defense took another step to fielding one of the league's most violent and physical secondaries this week as Tony Jefferson signed a deal reportedly worth $15 million annually.
"We look like a bunch of pussies wearing baby blue, so hopefully Tony changes that," Titans GM BDog said in a press conference on Wednesday. "He will be a cornerstone for our defense for years to come."
Jefferson creates an imposing duo with safety Kam Chancellor. Their presence as enforcers atop the defense theoretically complements Tennessee's emphasis on speed among its front seven -- the Titans acquired the rights to Chandler Jones earlier this offseason to team with edge rusher Brian Orakpo, as well as traded for thumper CJ Mosley at MLB and Rover/LB/SS Deone Buccannon -- and balance among its cornerbacks Josh Norman and Tavon Young.
Remember, the Titans fielded one of the league's worst secondaries last season despite putting together an effective pass rush, so the upgrades are significant.
Jefferson, 25, posted 96 tackles and 2 sacks last season along with 5 passes defended and 11 stuffs.
METRICS (hidden to protect dinosaurs who only go with their guts)
88.6 overall PFF grade, 5th among all safeties.
98.0 run grade, 2nd among all safeties.
In a move that won't make headlines, the Titans would also like to welcome CB E.J. Gaines to the organization. The 24-year-old corner was cut by the Rams of Los Angeles earlier this offseason after suffering through two injury-filled seasons. Gaines, however, was stellar as a rookie in 2014 -- he allowed just 1 TD as a full-time starter and didn't give up a completion of more than 23 yards -- and has experience playing inside and outside. He's a low risk, high reward addition for our organization.
The Titans also announced the re-signing of PK Ryan Succop and TE Jace Amaro, as well as the signing of run-stop specialist Woodrow Hamilton (81.6 run-stope grade in 2016).
Never mind, just saw that there was an official welcoming thread. My, how embarrassing for me. Please delete this mods so no one comes in here and makes fun of me for being by myself. It'll be like high school all over again.
