Also, @indecisivepizza do you think Back to the Future is a perfect movie like the social media debates have been arguing?

If you haven't watched The Finals Girls with Malin Akerman yet, it's a really good send up of the Slasher genre with a lot of heart in it. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it.

I think what helped with Marvel is that they had a vision from the start. Get to an Avengers team up movie and with how well that went, they tried to repeat it again leading up to AoU, which was a drop in quality because Joss Whedon didn't try to do anything different and really just upped what was normally known as his strengths like one liners and snarky quips from his characters. What helped is that they were able to fix and learn from their mistakes as they marched towards an inevitable end where Iron Man and Captain America couldn't go on with the same actors for much longer and they were able to bring in strong creative teams with different voices.

For you, it worked with Rian Johnson taking over Episode 8. For me the Force Awaken was fun "reboot" because it was really similar to Episode 4, so it had a lot of the familiar beats. I think where the shortcoming is for me, is that they weren't able to give them a credible enemy. Rylo Ken, Snoke and the First Order certainly weren't the Empire and when they hype up the characters like Captain Phantasm and don't do anything with them, it doesn't make for a trilogy that's going to be as good down the line. Episode 8 is slightly lower quality for me, and I would rank the original trilogy Episde 5, 4, 6 as the top tier. Rogue One is a tier two on it's own. Episodes 7,8 as the third tier. Tier four would be 3,2,1 Solo.

We won't rehash GOT. What a mess. I still enjoy things like the Battle of Winterfell in a vacuum and as an epic set piece, but the choices to try and shock and not give the fans the cathartic releases they want from so many storylines, still really hurts.
I really like 3 FWIW, and 2 was a childhood favorite, but notably not as good. I think I'd go:

5, 4, 6, Rogue, 8, 3, 7, 1, Solo, 2, 9

I don't think BttF is a "perfect movie", it's certainly not in my top tier of movies, but it's a surefire hit. And the movie and the trilogy as a whole show a level of cohesion and polish that is truly rare among other series.

Solo sneaky good, start of the movie is more than a little cringe but if you can get past that first 20 minutes it gets really good afterwards. I think it was shot sequentially so you can see the change in directors after that first bit.

Cloverfield can be a fun monster movie (it got long and gave me a headache), Cloverfield Lane was ok, and works based on Goodman and Winstead, but degrading quality again.
But the inclusion of the Cloverfield Paradox was excellent in my opinion.

There is only one perfect movie, The Royal Tennanbaums.
It's not on any streaming service and I haven't seen it and it makes me sad. I've seen Isle of Dogs, Moonrise Kingdom, Mr. Fox, Grand Budapest, and Darjeeling. Only 3(?) more to go before I've got the Wes Anderson suite down.

So I just watched Draft Day for the first time.

Not a fan.

I guess the whole point is that they got Seattle to make a bad deal, but there’s no way Seattle make’s that move at 7.

Also the big win is a punt returner?

Also, did we have to pick on the poor Jaguars? Even in movies they have to be the morons? Why not make it a team who’s always successful, the Packers maybe? Poor Jags.

Yeah Draft Day is something else, but it's about the drama and not how the real draft would run, in a sense it is a GML movie.

About that trade, wasn't Tim Dwight an integral part of the Michael Vick trade to Atlanta, precedence.

But even in the draft day movie universe, the trade doesn’t make sense! Seattle’s gotta hold tough

That's why he's a pancake eating motherfucker.

Imagine if Gettleman pandered and cared what the fans really thought.

the least realistic movie of all time. remember the terrible indiana jones movie, where he got in a refrigerator and escaped a nuclear bomb? that was more realistic than draft day. fuck kevin costner. fuck that movie.
That reminds me. There is a new Indiana Jones movie coming out. From what I hear in his movie he uses a weighted blanket to deflect an RPG.

Watched Extraction, solid action movie, great flawed lead. Can’t wait for number 2. Only complaint is my wife’s breathing was heavy during the film for some odd reason, myst have been the action.
