Lmao I donít know if Iíve ever heard of a top 1 protected pick...that feels a little obvious in its rigging, but I assume it wouldíve been fine.

top 1 protection happens all the time. the pick memphis dealt to detroit, that eventually became darko milicic, was one of the most notorious, because it ended up as the second pick.

And Darko instead of Melo, but that prevents the Pistons from being the team they were. Yay for blown picks?

Really, any combination of Kawhi, Kyrie, Durant, Butler + the 1st can help get the Knicks into the playoffs.

My dream scenario is the Raps trading for AD then restarting for the next cycle of competitiveness In 2 years.

KP is overrated shit. The Knicks maybe win like 40 something games with him as a top player, when he actually, you know, plays, so they can languish as a 1st or 2nd round exit every year.

They may not get Durant or such, but so long as they don't go all Knicks and sign shitty players to max deals if they miss out, it's fine. Build with the youth and swing again.

They didn't have to make the deal now, and they could have gotten a better return, but as for KP, fuck that guy. Softer than Charmin.

Heís a defensive monster that protects the rim and stretches the floor, he may not be the guy but heís the perfect complimentary piece for a ball dominant player who could lead the team.

DSJ and future picks in the 14-24 range donít meet that value.

Thereís also already reports heís gonna be playing in Dallas pretty quickly and he was taking the rehab slowly because the Knicks asked him to to help tank.

Soft. Would have been like recreating Amare and Melo. Sure, he'll come back. Then get hurt again.

Again, not saying the value was good. But losing KP, not a huge loss.

In today's NBA you can't pay a complementary piece a max contract when super teams are the thing. Especially when that piece can't stay healthy. You have to use your max slots on the true top tier players.

If Kyrie and KD sign they would be better with KP than having any rookie not named Zion, and that line up was possible.

Was it? I don't know the NBAs financial structure as well as I do the NFL but most articles seemed to indicate it was one or the other.

Sending out Zinger is what allows the Knicks to sign a second max contract, yes. But thatís because they used him as the incentive to move $30 mil in the form of Hardaway and Lee. But if you use draft picks an incentive to get off those guys then yeah you keep him.

Now Zingerís up for a contract too, but if he signs the qualifying offer like he threatened heís only due 4 mil because he didnít start the majority of games this season. Even if he doesnít and someone throws a restricted FA offer at him, the Knicks get a cap pardon because RFA would take place after those guys sign and if you are resigning someone and thatís what puts you in the penalty you get the tax pardoned (plus itís not like the Knicks canít afford a dip into the luxury tax even if it didnít work that way). That was a rule put in to help small markets keep good teams together.
