I'd like to play this but I won't have an opportunity to today. I'll be reading what you guys predict and comparing to the selections tonight though. Vegas is going to come away with a pretty competitive team. This was a very friendly procedure for an expansion team, but if I paid $500 million I'd want similar treatment also. We should make predictions as to what city will receive the next Expansion team. We know it will be a Western Conference team and so any cities in the Central, Mountain, and Pacific time zones. I guess:

1. Kansas City
2. Seattle
3. Houston

I find it unusual that a city as big as San Diego now only has 1 professional sports team. Hockey doesn't seem to fit that culture. Basketball would probably make more sense. But with real estate prices so high a new arena might need two franchises instead of one.

KC and HOU have said they don't have interest, so if it's not QBC, it's SEA, and it could still be both.

I can see that with HOU, but are you sure KC said they do not have interest? They built a new arena and Mario Lemieux was having meetings in KC to move the Pens there (leverage for a new Pittsburgh arena). So are you sure KC isn't interested? Or maybe they were only interested in moving a franchise not having an expansion team or maybe they were interested back then but are no longer interested.

Seattle has already chosen a renovation company for KeyArena. That just happened earlier this month. So my money is on Seattle but not for at least 2 years, probably not for at least 3 years.

KC doesn't want an anchor tenant. They are one of the most lucrative arenas because of the music acts they get and a hockey team would eat into that. At one time as you notes they were a top possibility, but time and success changed it. They maybe only opt for an amazing deal like Portland's stance.

Paul Allen was close on the Yotes and Pens at different points, but the NHL obviously bypassed him, so he got pissed and said he's still interested, but only if the price works (ie: cheap distressed asset) so safe to say, it's likely not happening.
